Also called steamroller, the compactor is used to pack and tamp the soil or a layer asphalt.
There are several models, each used for a specific task:
DDE 17, Dynapac
- double ball roller means (cylinder) articulated in the middle
DDE 17, Caterpillar
- large single ball roller used to smooth and resurface the asphalt
DDE 72, Caterpillar PS-300B
- pneumatic roller gravillonage used for punching and the mix (the compact without vibration). It can be equipped with tarps covering the wheels to keep the heat of the mix during compaction.
compactors used for the coating are equipped with an integrated watering system that avoids the asphalt from sticking to the beads, causing a tear of the road.
