Re: area of Val des Seigneurs, 137-145 & 138-144
The inhabitants of the Val des Seigneurs, meeting in a committee of neighbors and neighborhood would like to draw your attention to some elements that could pose problems of safety, convenience and comfort for residents.
-
Traffic - Car Herendal
-
Pedestrian safety: the speed of traffic on the portion of Herendal between the Square and the King Baudouin Drive Bridge " former railroad is often unacceptably high, with two sensitive points that are the voyages of children to / from the Institute Don Bosco, one at the junction with the Causeway Stockel, the other at the junction with the road leading from the side street of the Hospital (next to store local). This passage is particularly dangerous, children crossing the two lanes at the end of Herendal when the visibility is almost non-existent bridge side rail and very limited on the other side, the Herendal a curve.
-
Speed: Crossroads Herendal (turn "dry" on the right) X Chaussée de Stockel has seen numerous accidents involving vehicles traveling at too high a speed and moving on from the pavement sq. King Baudouin to the scimitar, and carry that offend the separation of pavement bollards at the intersection.
Proposal: organize an effective slowdown on these portions of road, reporting and particularly preferably organize the pedestrian crossing at these locations, perhaps elevating the relevant passages (" hump plateau ") and reporting them by flashing lights.
-
-
vehicular traffic - Railway Bridge - Pedestrian
Bridge railway between Herendal Av Dumont and is much too narrow to allow safe passage pedestrians and vehicles at the same time. If there still were no accidents at this location, it is certainly due to fear of pedestrians who do engage in it reluctantly. The sidewalks are too narrow for safe passage. The passage is also used by children and youth in special institute neighbor, IRAHM,
-
vehicular traffic - Chaussée de Stockel X Pte Street Hospital - Pedestrians
At this intersection, a small roundabout decorative "private" was built to allow access to garage in the basement of the new building corner. But this roundabout no longer pedestrian traffic without the road they must travel and therefore pose significant risks while the sidewalk skirting the small roundabout to the right of the building falls and then rises steeply on both sides of the driveway and is therefore impractical for the elderly or disabled, and anyway uncomfortable for everyone so that nobody does the trick.
Proposal: reshape the small roundabout in order to create a sidewalk practicable and of sufficient width along the Causeway, with markings for pedestrian protection that cross two passes and prohibit the parking.
-
Movement of pedestrians and cyclists - conflicts and pedestrian safety
-
The sidewalk portion of Herendal crossroads between Herendal X Chaussée de Stockel and the bridge of former railway adjacent to the properties to odd numbers, has been covered with concrete slabs 30x30 red. As a result, large numbers of cyclists travel in both directions has more or less high speed without any regard for pedestrians old, disabled, children and mothers with strollers, jostling and insulting pretext that the sidewalk is red, so it's a bike path!
-
Moreover, the recovery of that sidewalk was heavily damaged by the work carried out in recent years and in many places, the slabs are unsealed, with terrain structures large enough to cause the fall of persons disabled (and not only) as well as puddles or gushing water can be dangerous in winter by frost.
Proposals (alternative)
-
again at nine the recovery of this sidewalk slabs with color or less ambiguous
-
repair the sidewalk (urgent) , ask her 4 access possible signs prohibiting the movement of cyclists and painting on the same road, at each exit of garages or even throughout that portion of Avenue of legal ground scars indicating the bike path .

Signage Road
Several new closed or lanes were built leading into the Valley of the Lords, one entering the island "Nuthatches (no peers), the other going to the Owl Street (odd No.) at the foot of the walk. These islands are still poorly reported and many people (including emergencies) and unsuccessfully sought. It is not clearly indicated that they are dead ends.
Similarly, Herendal after the junction with the road Stockel, is very misinformed : The panel is on the wrong side of the road for users coming from the King Baudouin and Sq is too inconspicuous.
Proposal: placing street name signs to "inputs" of both closed and lane (with the issues) and move the sign at the entrance of the grassed berm of the valley of the Lords to put in road edge. There is already a post holder parking signs.
-
Pruning trees in the central reservation - Herendal
These trees shed regularly on dead branches cars parked below: perhaps the municipal services they could make a regular maintenance pruning?
-
dog droppings
Some dog owners do not show a very limited interest in respect of good rules of civility and canine particularly refrain from picking up the droppings of their animals. However, the grassed central reservation is a good place for walking dogs health.
The small park at the foot of newly constructed buildings will also be an odd place very attractive for these health walks canines.
Proposal: A distributor of "poop bags" placed on the berm Central Valley, the middle portion of the avenue and accessible from both sides of the fence, would certainly be welcome, as well as bins on each side of the avenue. One or two other distributors of "poop bags" would be desirable also in the small park, with 2 inputs per ex. and hope that the masters get the message (with the help of friendly insistent other walkers).
-
Ms. Manouchery, resident at No. 138 Herendal, recalls its request addressed to the municipality that is located opposite the exit of garages located next pair of Valle, a mirror to see the vehicles arriving from the Avenue Albert Dumont, Herendal curve and are therefore offering very limited visibility, often at a speed too high.
Proposal: placement signal lights can be controlled by the pedestrian s with a call button on each side of the road (thus 4 buttons).
We also wish to announce that, given the success of this year's celebration of neighbors, we count again in 2009. The participants' request for a barbecue "neighborhood" on this occasion is also general. We would be happy to receive advice of the common people competent and experienced in this kind of manifestation of more widespread and we ask now to be able again this year, distributed free of communal tables and benches and, if any, a barbecue equipment larger than those available to households.
We hope that you will consider the issues raised and possible solutions we offer and we remain at your disposal for any meeting or any additional information that would be required.
A file photo can be made if necessary.
Please accept, Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen, Aldermen, the assurance of our best consideration.

Letter Committee headquarters at the College and on-site visit
This Saturday morning March 7, 2009, the Burgomaster Willem Sheets walked our neighborhood as announced in a recent circular letter.
The neighborhood committee had drafted and sent to the Mayor and Aldermen a letter noting the main problems that we, the inhabitants are facing in our daily lives. This letter provided the basis for discussion between Willem Sheets and Jean-Pierre Jacquet, representing the residents, to find practical solutions.
You will find enclosed the letter to the College and a few pictures taken in meeting the new little park.
Mr. Sheets will inform us as soon as possible solutions to be adopted and communal timetables. * * *
Let's use this little word for you inform the next big area of activity will be organizing the celebration of neighbors, (normally scheduled for Tuesday, May 26) that we propose to organize, however, on 6 June in order not to fall into the school holidays and bridges! As requested by the majority of you, we will offer a barbecue joint, bringing together all the inhabitants of our End of the Val side odd and even, according to the good old "rule": each brings its own provisions and drinks and put our everything in common. It will however be asked for a very minimal involvement in each: it will indeed rent a barbecue facility served enough that everyone should be free shoving (and therefore, a reserve of charcoal and some other expenses.
We already call all people of goodwill to come forward to organize and participate in the day.
Sincerely to all our neighbors, for
Committee,
Jean-Pierre Jacquet
